A bill requiring crossing arms on school buses narrowly passed out of the House Education committee.

The bill, part of the Governor's education agenda, would provide 1.7 million dollars statewide for the school bus safety arms. Bill sponsor Steve Stoll

Contents: I believe that the cross-arms will help all children because it will keep them from walking right in front of the bus in the blind spot.

But, opponents say that school bus arms don't go far enough in protecting children.

They say strobe lights on buses is another way to provide additional safety.

The bill passed earlier by the Senate, now goes to the House.

From the State Capitol, I'm Rod Petersen.
